The Rocky Mountain Mining Institute (RMMI) is a nonprofit educational organization founded on November 11, 1912, for mining industry members. The mission of RMMI, a professional association made up of individuals and supported by businesses, is to promote exceptional safety processes, behaviors, performance, and results through training, benchmarking, and evaluation. The corporation’s mission is to promote western mining through education.

The RMMI Technical Scholarship was established as part of the foundation’s mission to promote the mining industry. Technical school scholarships are given to students enrolled in technical programs who intend to use their education in the mining industry, where technical applications are in high demand. The award is valued at $1,000.

The scholarship is intended to help high school students who want to work in the mining industry. Every year, the Rocky Mountain Mining Institute sends out scholarship applications to academic institutions that are interested; the applications are also available on their website. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who live in one of the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming.
