The North Carolina League For Nursing Academic Scholarship awards $500 to $2,000 to North Carolina students enrolled in an accredited graduate degree in nursing.
Applicants are expected to be graduate students at a North Carolina college or university, be legal residents of North Carolina, and be able to demonstrate financial need. Applicants pursuing doctoral degrees in nursing outside a North Carolina university are allowed to apply.
The Foundation For The Carolinas manages the endowment fund, with a scholarship committee affiliated with North Carolina League For Nursing. The committee determines the number of recipients and the amount to be awarded. The award is paid directly to recipients’ institutions in the fall.
1. Get the required coursework
Scholarship applicants are required to have already completed at least six semester hours of coursework in their graduate program of study by the end of the fall semester of the academic year they apply.
2. Write a solid personal statement
Your personal statement should be on why you are applying for the scholarship and your commitment to full-time employment in North Carolina, either in nursing practice or in teaching in a nursing education program. Personal statements are required to be typed, have a maximum length of two pages, and be double-spaced.
3. Get a stellar recommendation
Applicants are required to submit two recommendation forms. One of the forms must be on your progress in the program from a faculty member.

The scholarship is awarded based on financial need. Only apply if you can prove that finance is a barrier to getting a degree in education.
