Texas awards most of its state aid through the colleges themselves rather than through a central application. The guides below cover awards that depend on Texas residency or on enrolling at a Texas public institution.
ACET Student Scholarship 2027 - Up to $1,500
ACET Student Scholarships from the Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas give $1,000 awards to Texas high school seniors who participated in compensatory education programs such as Title I tutoring, mentoring, homeless student services, or after-school academic help. You must attend a Texas public district or charter school and graduate on schedule. The statewide top scorer also receives the Wade & Sandy Burroughs Scholarship worth an additional $500. Apply online through acetx.org with your ESC region, essay rubric responses, and supporting materials before the posted Central Time deadline. The 2025-26 cycle closed February 27, 2026 at 5 p.m. CST with no mailed applications accepted; ACET plans to reopen in fall 2026 for 2026-27 seniors.
ACET Paraprofessional Scholarship 2027 - $1,000
The Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET) awards four $1,000 paraprofessional scholarships each year to Texas school staff who work in compensatory education programs and are working toward a bachelor''s degree and teacher certification without holding a bachelor''s yet. You need at least two years as a paraprofessional in a Texas district, enrollment in an accredited Texas teacher preparation program, two recommendation letters, a personal essay scored by regional directors, and an online application through acetx.org. Funds cover tuition, fees, and required books and are paid to the recipient. ACET typically opens the window in fall and sets a late-February Central Time deadline; the 2025-26 cycle closed February 27, 2026 at 5 p.m. CST, so expect a similar 2026-27 timeline when the 2027 page posts.
Phyllis Lister-Brown Scholarship 2026 - DFW Law
The Phyllis Lister Brown Memorial Scholarship from the J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation honors a minority law student who has excelled academically and is tied to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Formerly called the Judge's Scholarship, it is one of five JLTLAF merit awards funded through the annual Scholarship and Awards Gala. Second- and third-year students at ABA-accredited US law schools who are US citizens or permanent residents in good standing may apply if they are from DFW or attend law school there. Amounts vary each year. Submit the 2026 application PDF and full packet by 5:00 p.m. Central on 25 September 2026.
Fred Finch Scholarship 2026 - DFW Law Students
The Fred Finch Scholarship from the J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation honors the most outstanding male minority law student from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex or attending law school in DFW. Second- and third-year students at ABA-accredited US law schools who are US citizens or permanent residents in good standing may apply. JLTLAF expects a complete package with transcript, resume, writing sample, essay, reference letter, biography, and photo. Amounts vary by year and winners are announced at the November gala. Completed applications are due by 5:00 p.m. Central on 25 September 2026.
