The largest automatic award is the Provost Scholarship at up to $16,000 a year for non-resident first-year students, renewable for three more years. Oregon residents are read for the Presidential Scholarship at up to $10,000 a year and the Finley Academic Excellence Scholarship at up to $5,000. Transfers get smaller versions: up to $5,000 a year on the Provost and $2,000 on the Finley. International first-years receive guaranteed regional awards from $2,000 to $16,000 a year depending on country of residence. For comparison, the Oregon-resident Presidential Scholarship sets a hard floor of 3.85 unweighted or 4.20 weighted.

Regional awards are keyed to country of residence for undergraduate first-year and International Year One students: $16,000 a year for Europe, Latin America, Indonesia and Singapore, $14,000 for India, $12,000 for Vietnam and Africa, $8,000 for Southeast Asia and for Hong Kong and Macau, and $2,000 for Taiwan. No scholarship application is required, qualified applicants are awarded with the offer, and the award renews as long as you stay in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.0 or above. Students already funded by a government scholarship or an external sponsor are not eligible.

The Western Undergraduate Exchange is a regional tuition programme covering more than 160 public universities across 18 states and territories. At OSU it is awarded as a competitive scholarship that reduces non-resident tuition to 150 per cent of the resident rate, applied to base on-campus undergraduate tuition. Residents of the eligible western states and Pacific territories are considered automatically through the University Scholars Program, but not every eligible applicant receives it. Transfer students who win it typically have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher.
