AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship 2027 - $1,000
This guide stays up for reference. Check the official website for the next round, or see what else closes in March.
The Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability is the American Association on Health and Disability award for students with a disability who are studying a field that affects the health and daily life of people with disabilities. AAHD says the scholarships are generally $1,000, and in 2026 it gave $1,000 to four students. The 2025-2026 application closed on March 6, 2026. AAHD says the 2027 application period will open by November 2026. It has not posted the 2027 due date.
What is the AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship?
The American Association on Health and Disability gives this award to students with a disability who are training in a field that changes health and daily life for people with disabilities. Public health, disability studies, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, and special education are the majors AAHD names first. Other related fields can still apply. Community service helps.
The standing amount is $1,000, though the scholarship committee can change the size and the number of awards. In September 2026 AAHD announced four scholars at $1,000 each and said hundreds of applications had come in. The 2025-2026 file closed on March 6, 2026. The next window opens by November 2026. Until AAHD posts a new due date, March 6 is history, not the 2027 deadline.

FAQ
How much is the AAHD scholarship?
AAHD says scholarships are generally $1,000. The board's scholarship committee decides how many to give and the amount, based on funds. In 2026 AAHD awarded four scholarships of $1,000.
When does the 2027 application open?
AAHD says the 2027 application period will open by November 2026. The page does not list the 2027 due date. The previous posted deadline was March 6, 2026, for the 2025-2026 cycle.
Can a high school senior apply?
Not as a first-time college student. Undergraduates must already have sophomore standing or higher. The exception on the page is a high school student who has sophomore standing through AP credits.
Can a past winner apply again?
Only for a new program. An undergraduate award does not block a later graduate application, and a master's award does not block a later PhD application. People on the Disability and Health Journal editorial board cannot apply.
