National College Match Scholarship 2027 - QuestBridge
The National College Match Scholarship is a full four-year scholarship that QuestBridge's 55 college partners give to high-achieving seniors from low-income families, and QuestBridge values each one at over $360,000. You fill in one free application, rank up to 15 colleges, and if one of them admits you early, it covers tuition, housing, food, books and travel with no student loans and nothing asked of your parents. QuestBridge calls this cycle the 2026 National College Match, and it fills places for fall 2027. The application is open now and closes on 1 October 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific. Rankings are due on 15 October, finalists hear on 21 October, and Match Day is 1 December 2026. In 2025, 7,026 students became finalists and 2,550 of them matched, so plan for the Regular Decision round as well as the Match itself.
What is the National College Match Scholarship?
The National College Match Scholarship is the full ride at the end of QuestBridge's National College Match, a free application run by a California nonprofit on behalf of 55 selective US colleges. Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Princeton and Duke are on the list, along with small liberal arts colleges such as Pomona, Bowdoin and Grinnell. You write one application, rank up to 15 of those colleges, and if one of them admits you early, it pays for four years of tuition, housing, food, books and travel. No loans, and no bill sent to your parents.
The money comes from the colleges, not from QuestBridge. That matters because the package is built by each school's financial aid office, and the exact numbers differ from one partner to the next. Every partner posts a sample package on its QuestBridge page, which is worth reading before you rank. QuestBridge puts the value at over $360,000 per student, and at the most expensive partners that figure is conservative.
Timing is the part people get wrong. QuestBridge calls this the 2026 National College Match, but the students who match start college in fall 2027. The application closes on 1 October 2026 at 11:59 pm Pacific, which gives you less than three weeks from today. After that the calendar moves fast. Rankings go in by 15 October, finalists hear on 21 October, finalists send the FAFSA, CSS Profile and other Match Requirements to each ranked college by 1 November, and everyone learns their result on Match Day, 1 December 2026.
Be clear-eyed about the odds before you plan around one outcome. In 2025, 2,550 of the 7,026 finalists matched. Most of the rest still got into strong colleges, often through QuestBridge Regular Decision, but you should keep a Regular Decision list ready and treat the Match as the best case rather than the plan. ✓From a low-income householdQuestBridge says most successful applicants come from households earning less than $65,000 a year for a family of four, with minimal assets. That figure is a guideline rather than a hard cutoff: 89% of 2025 finalists were under it, and 86% qualified for free or reduced-price school meals.

✓Top grades in your hardest coursesFinalists typically earn mostly A's in the most demanding classes their school offers and rank in the top 5 to 10% of their class. The 2025 finalists averaged a 3.9 unweighted GPA. Test scores are not required.
