Forté MBA Fellowship 2027 - How Schools Pick Fellows
The Forté MBA Fellowship is the award that Forté Foundation's member business schools give to admitted MBA students who show strong leadership and a commitment to advancing women in business. There is no Forté application form. You apply for the MBA itself, the school offers you a place and reviews you for every scholarship it has, then it chooses its Forté Fellows and reports them to Forté. Schools set the money, so one Fellow might get a partial tuition award while another gets full tuition somewhere else. Forté says its member schools have awarded $595 million in Forté Fellowships to more than 24,000 Fellows so far. For the class starting in fall 2027, Round 1 deadlines at US member schools mostly fall between September and October 2026, and Round 2 closes around early January 2027. Each school publishes its own dates, and scholarship budgets get thinner in later rounds.
What is the Forté MBA Fellowship?
The Forté MBA Fellowship is a scholarship run jointly by Forté Foundation, a nonprofit based in Austin, Texas, and the business schools that pay to be its members. The idea behind it is simple. Forté wants more women in business leadership, and the MBA is one of the main routes into it, so member schools agreed to put some of their own scholarship money under a shared Forté name. Forté handles the network and the events, and the schools handle the money.
That split explains why the process feels unusual. You never fill in a Forté form or send Forté a transcript. You apply to the MBA, and your admissions file does all the work. If a school admits you, it sets the award at whatever level fits its budget and how much it wants you. So two Fellows in the same year can hold the same title with very different cheques. The award then shows up in your scholarship offer, and Forté invites you to register as a Fellow in the fall before classes start.
Timing matters more than most applicants expect. Scholarship pools at most schools are biggest early, and Berkeley Haas says outright that awards are limited and not guaranteed in later rounds. For the class starting in fall 2027, that points you to Round 1, which mostly closes between September and October 2026, or Round 2 around early January 2027. If you are also applying for other funding, the GWI Scholars Program guide covers a free finance training route for women in college, and STEM applicants heading to graduate school should read the GEM Fellowship guide.
The title itself is worth something after you graduate. Registered Fellows keep lifetime access to Forté's online events, its Fellows groups and the Professional Access Pass, and their resumes go into a book sent to Forté's corporate partners. Check the details on the official Forté MBA Fellowships page, and send questions to [email protected].

FAQ
How do you become a Forté Fellow?
You apply to the MBA at a Forté member business school and get admitted. The school then reviews you for all of its scholarships, picks its Forté Fellows and tells Forté who they are. Leadership and a commitment to advancing women in business are the two things schools look for.
Is there a separate application for the Forté MBA Fellowship?
No. Forté does not take applications from students, and you cannot nominate yourself. Your MBA application is what gets you considered. A few schools run their own scholarship form or ask for an extra essay, so check the financial aid page of each school you apply to.
How much is the Forté MBA Fellowship worth?
There is no fixed amount. Each member school decides how much its Forté Fellows receive, and awards range from partial tuition to full tuition. Forté says member schools have given $595 million in Forté Fellowships so far. On top of the money, you get Forté conferences, the resume book and lifetime network access.
Which schools offer the Forté Fellowship?
Only Forté member business schools. In the US that includes Harvard Business School, Stanford GSB, MIT Sloan, Columbia, Tuck, Michigan Ross, Kelley, McCombs, Darden, Yale SOM and more than 30 others. There are also members in Canada, the UK and Europe. Forté keeps the current list on its website.
Can men or international students get a Forté Fellowship?
Yes to both. Forté says students of all nationalities, genders and gender identities are eligible. What matters is a real record of supporting women in business, alongside your leadership, and international students admitted to a US member school are considered the same way as US applicants.
When is the Forté Fellowship deadline for 2027?
Forté has no deadline of its own. Your deadline is your school's MBA round. For the class entering in fall 2027, Round 1 closes between September and October 2026 at most US member schools and Round 2 around early January 2027. Apply in one of those two rounds, because scholarship budgets shrink later in the cycle.
Does the Forté Fellowship cover part-time or executive MBA programmes?
Sometimes. Every member school awards Forté Fellowships to full-time MBA students, but part-time and executive awards are only offered at select schools. Ask the admissions office of your programme before you count on it.
What if I attend a different school from the one that named me a Forté Fellow?
The Fellowship belongs to the school that offered it. Forté tells you to complete the Fellow registration form only if you are attending that school. If you plan to enroll somewhere else, email [email protected] before you register.
