Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027 - 75% of Tuition

Deadline 31 May 2027, awarded during June 2027 260 days left · Hosted by Boustany Foundation at Harvard Business School · Published

The Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027 is the Boustany Foundation award for one candidate entering the MBA at Harvard Business School, and it is granted only once every two years. The Foundation pays financial aid amounting to 75% of tuition fees, then covers travel and accommodation expenses tied to a two-month internship at its office in Monaco. Two things make this award unusual. First, you cannot apply speculatively: Harvard has to offer you a place before the Foundation will look at you. Second, exactly one candidate wins, which puts it among the most competitive single awards an MBA applicant can chase. It is open to candidates of any nationality, and the Foundation says priority goes to candidates of Lebanese descent. The next Scholarship is for the class commencing Autumn 2027, candidacies close on 31 May 2027, and the winner is announced during June 2027.

What is the Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027?

The Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027 is a single award, given to a single person, once every two years, by a family foundation based in Monaco. The Boustany Foundation funds it, and the next one goes to a candidate joining the class commencing Autumn 2027 at Harvard Business School. What you get is financial aid amounting to 75% of tuition fees, plus travel, accommodation and food for a two-month internship at the Foundation's own office. What you give back is that internship, and a project connected to what the Foundation is trying to do in the world.

The sequence matters more here than on almost any other award. You cannot apply until Harvard has already offered you a place, because the acceptance letter is a required upload. So the Scholarship sits behind the hardest door in graduate business education rather than in front of it, and the practical effect is that your application season runs in two halves. First you fight for the admission offer on Harvard's timetable through the autumn and winter. Then, holding that offer, you spend a week in May on a much shorter application: a CV with a photograph, your official GMAT scores, the acceptance letter, and three short written answers of 150 to 200 words each. Candidacies close on 31 May 2027 and the winner is named during June 2027, which is a fast turnaround by scholarship standards and lands before you have to commit to Harvard's tuition bills.

Be clear-eyed about the odds and the gaps. One candidate wins per cycle, and the Foundation says priority goes to candidates of Lebanese descent, while still stating that the award can go to a candidate of any nation. There is no published GPA or GMAT threshold, since selection runs on outstanding capability and merit against the rest of the field. And 75% of tuition is not a free MBA: the last quarter of tuition, your housing, health insurance, living costs in Boston and your flights all stay on your own budget. Harvard Business School's separate need-based scholarships are the obvious way to close part of that gap, since the School says awards run from $2,000 to $87,000 a year, about half of students receive one, and the average comes to roughly $100,000 over two years for domestic and international students alike.

One detail on the official page is worth flagging so it does not throw you. The Scholarship page describes the award as being for a two-year course at Harvard Business School, then a later paragraph on the same page calls the Harvard MBA a 12-month programme, which reads like text carried over from the Foundation's Cambridge award. Harvard Business School describes its own MBA as two years, so plan around a two-year degree and ask the Foundation directly at [email protected] if the length of funding decides anything for you. For other MBA money worth lining up beside this one, the Forté MBA Fellowship 2027 is awarded by member business schools at the point of admission with no separate form, the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program 2027 funds graduate study at Stanford including the GSB, and the Harvard Academy Scholars Program 2027 is a different Harvard route for social scientists rather than managers. Current terms live on the Boustany Foundation's Harvard University MBA Scholarship page.

Who can apply

Eligibility

Your progress 0 / 6
  • An offer of admission from the Harvard MBA
This is the hard gate and it comes before everything else. The Foundation states that candidates may apply for the Scholarship only after receiving an offer of admission from the Harvard MBA programme, and the application form asks you to upload the acceptance letter. Getting into Harvard Business School is your problem to solve first; the Scholarship is a second, separate contest run after admission.
  • Entering the class commencing Autumn 2027
The Scholarship is granted once every two years, and the Foundation says the next one will be awarded for the class commencing Autumn 2027. If you are starting in another year, this particular cycle is not yours, and the following award would fall two years later on the same pattern.
  • Excellent academic background and considerable promise
The published criteria are short: candidates must have an excellent academic background and show considerable promise. The Foundation adds on its scholarships page that candidates are chosen primarily on outstanding capabilities and merit, so there is no published GPA or GMAT cut-off to clear, just a comparison against everyone else who applied.
  • Official GMAT scores
The Foundation asks for official GMAT scores both in its written instructions and as a required upload on the application form. The academic section of the form also asks for your degree title, institution, year of graduation and your GMAT, GPA or final grade, so have those numbers ready in the form the test provider issued them.
  • Open to any nationality, with a stated priority
The Scholarship can be awarded to candidates of any nation, so international students are eligible and this is not a US-citizens-only award. The Foundation does say plainly that priority will be given to candidates of Lebanese descent. Read that as a real tilt in the selection rather than a formality, while still leaving the door open to everyone else.
  • Willing to do the two-month Monaco internship
Selected scholars are expected to spend two months over the summer at the Foundation's office in Monaco, unpaid, working on a project connected to the Foundation's objectives. The Foundation treats it as part of the award rather than an optional extra, so it belongs in your eligibility thinking before you apply.

What to prepare

Document checklist

Documents gathered 0 / 6
  • Updated CV with a photograph
The Foundation asks for a curriculum vitae with a photograph. On the online form the upload has a maximum file size of 1 MB, which is tight for a CV carrying an image, so compress the photo rather than the text.
  • Official GMAT scores
Your official score report, uploaded to the Documents step of the form, again with a 1 MB limit. The form also asks you to type the GMAT, GPA or final grade into the academic background section, so the two should match.
  • Acceptance letter from Harvard Business School
Proof that Harvard has offered you a place on the MBA. Without it there is nothing to assess, since the Scholarship is only open to admitted candidates. Maximum 1 MB on the upload.
  • Academic background details
Degree title, university or institution name, year of graduation, and your GMAT, GPA or final grade. There is a second block for additional degrees, certifications or diplomas, and a required field listing the other universities you have applied to.
  • Short-term and long-term career goals
Two written answers inside the form. Short-term goals after completing the MBA are capped at 150 words, and long-term goals, including how the MBA gets you there, are capped at 200 words.
  • Scholarship motivation statement
A 200-word maximum answer to why you believe you are the best candidate for this Scholarship. There is also an optional 150-word box for anything else you want the Foundation to know, which is the only place to explain a gap or an unusual profile.
Step by step

How to apply

Nothing about the Scholarship changes the MBA application. Work through the Harvard Business School rounds on their published dates, and treat the Boustany award as a separate step that only becomes available if Harvard says yes.
The Foundation only considers candidates who already hold an offer from the Harvard MBA programme. An application without an acceptance letter has nothing to stand on, so there is no advantage in sending one early.
An updated CV carrying a photograph, your official GMAT score report, and the acceptance letter from Harvard. The online form caps each upload at 1 MB, so flatten and compress the PDFs before you start rather than mid-submission.
Short-term career goals in 150 words, long-term career goals and how the MBA serves them in 200 words, and why you are the best candidate for this Scholarship in 200 words. Draft them outside the form. At those lengths every sentence has to carry weight.
The Foundation runs a five-step online form covering personal details, academic background, work experience, career goals and documents. The written instructions on the Scholarship page also give [email protected] as the address for sending your CV, GMAT scores and acceptance letter, so use the email route if the form gives you trouble.
Candidacies close on 31 May 2027. Shortlisted candidates are invited to one or more interviews with the Foundation, which may be by phone and in some cases in person, and one candidate is awarded the Scholarship during June 2027.

Questions

FAQ

What is the Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027?

It is the Boustany Foundation's scholarship for one candidate entering the MBA at Harvard Business School. The Foundation grants it once every two years, and the next award goes to the class commencing Autumn 2027. It pays financial aid amounting to 75% of tuition fees and covers travel and accommodation expenses for a two-month internship at the Foundation in Monaco. Harvard Business School itself does not run this award, so the money and the selection both come from the Foundation.

How much does the Harvard MBA Scholarship cover?

The Foundation states one figure: financial aid amounting to 75% of the tuition fees. It publishes no dollar amount, because the number moves with Harvard's published tuition for the year you enrol, so check the Harvard Business School cost summary for the current figure and take three quarters of it. The remaining quarter of tuition is yours to fund, as are living costs, housing, health insurance and travel to Boston. On top of tuition support, the Foundation pays travel, accommodation and food expenses connected to the Monaco internship.

Who is eligible for the Harvard University MBA Scholarship?

Candidates who already hold an offer of admission from the Harvard MBA programme, who have an excellent academic background and show considerable promise. The Foundation asks for official GMAT scores and selects primarily on capability and merit rather than on a published cut-off. Any nationality may be awarded the Scholarship, and the Foundation states that priority is given to candidates of Lebanese descent.

When is the Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027 deadline?

The deadline for the submission of candidacy is 31 May 2027, and the Scholarship will be awarded during the month of June 2027. The Foundation's own FAQ adds that the deadline is typically 31 May of the award year, which is useful if you are planning for the cycle after this one. Since the award is biennial, missing 31 May 2027 means waiting two years rather than one.

Can international students apply for the Harvard MBA Scholarship?

Yes. The Foundation says plainly that the Scholarship can be awarded to candidates of any nation, so there is no citizenship or visa gate here, unlike many US-funded awards. What it does add is that priority will be given to candidates of Lebanese descent. Your visa status still matters for Harvard admission and for the Monaco internship, but it does not rule you out of the Scholarship itself.

Is the Monaco internship compulsory for Boustany scholars?

Treat it as compulsory. The Foundation says scholars are expected to complete a two-month internship at its office in Monaco over the summer, and its scholarships FAQ describes the internship as what it expects in return for the award. The internship is unpaid, but travel from your university to Monaco, accommodation and food are all paid by the Foundation. The project is set on the first day and can follow your interests, from raising awareness of the Foundation to designing new scholarship programmes. The exact two-month window is agreed case by case.

How many Harvard MBA scholarships does the Boustany Foundation award?

One. The Foundation says that if you are shortlisted you will be invited to one or more interviews and that one candidate will be awarded the Scholarship. Combined with the two-year cycle, that means a single Boustany Harvard scholar exists per intake cohort. The Foundation runs separate awards for the Cambridge MBA and for PhD study in astronomy and philosophy at Cambridge, so an unsuccessful Harvard candidacy does not close off the rest of its programme.

What other scholarships can Harvard MBA students get?

Harvard Business School runs its own need-based scholarships, which it describes as gifts that do not need to be paid back, with awards ranging from $2,000 to $87,000 per year. HBS says roughly 50 percent of students receive a need-based scholarship and that the average is approximately $100,000 over two years, and that both domestic and international students are considered. That programme is decided by the School's financial aid team on need, not by the Boustany Foundation, and the two are worth pursuing in parallel.
