University of Michigan MBA Scholarships 2027 at Ross

Deadline Round 2 application deadline, 4 January 2027. There is no separate scholarship deadline 109 days left · Hosted by University of Michigan Ross School of Business · Published

University of Michigan MBA Scholarships sit inside the admission decision rather than beside it. Ross Financial Aid states that all full-time MBA students are considered for scholarships during the admission process, that selected students are told in their admission letters, and that no separate application is required. That single sentence changes how you plan: there is no scholarship essay to write and no scholarship portal to watch, so the only deadline that decides your money is the Ross Full-Time MBA round you apply in. Awards are judged on academic ability, professional and personal achievements, and potential to contribute to the Ross community, and they range from $10,000 to full tuition. The top of that range has names attached to it. Dean''s Impact Scholars receive a full-tuition scholarship plus an annual stipend for educational travel, leadership development and non-tuition costs, and Dean''s Fellows receive full tuition with an alumni networking track. US citizens, permanent residents and international students are all considered, and Ross says an admission scholarship is renewable for both years of the programme as long as you stay in good academic standing. Round 1 for the class entering in autumn 2027 closed on 8 September 2026. Round 2 closes at 11:59 pm Eastern on 4 January 2027, with decisions on 19 March 2027, and Round 3 closes on 29 March 2027. Ross evaluates every round equally for scholarship money.

What are the University of Michigan MBA Scholarships?

University of Michigan MBA Scholarships are not a competition you enter. They are the money that comes attached to an admission letter from the Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor. Ross Financial Aid puts it in one line: all full-time MBA students are considered for scholarships during the admission process, selected students are notified in their admission letters, and no separate application is required. Awards run from $10,000 at the bottom to full tuition at the top, and the criteria are academic ability, professional and personal achievements, and potential to contribute to the Ross community. If you have been searching for a Michigan MBA scholarship form, that is why you cannot find one.

The top of the range carries names. Dean's Impact Scholars receive a full-tuition scholarship plus an annual stipend for educational travel, leadership development and non-tuition expenses, which is the most generous package Ross publishes for the Full-Time MBA. Dean's Fellows also receive full tuition, with a networking track into alumni senior leadership. Around those sit distinctions rather than separate awards: the Forte Fellowship for women in business, which Ross has supported as a founding partner since 2003, the Consortium Fellowship for candidates who apply through the Consortium and are evaluated for funding up to full tuition, the Reaching Out MBA Fellowship with a minimum $20,000 scholarship, and the Health Innovation Scholars designation for applicants who name healthcare as their career interest. Dual-degree candidates pick up their own routes through the Tauber Institute for Global Operations, the Erb Institute and Rackham Graduate School.

Put the numbers next to the cost and the stakes get clear. Full-Time MBA tuition for 2026-2027 is $39,293 per semester for Michigan residents and $41,793 for non-residents, which is $78,586 and $83,946 for the academic year. Ross builds a cost of attendance budget on top of that, adding $493 in registration fees, $2,000 for books and supplies, $22,276 for food and housing, $7,360 for personal expenses including health insurance and $224 in federal loan fees, reaching $110,939 for a resident and $115,939 for a non-resident. A full-tuition award clears most of that, a $10,000 award clears less than a tenth, and nothing in the standard merit scholarship covers living costs. The 2027-2028 rates land in July 2027, so treat these as the current baseline rather than the price you will pay.

Timing is simple once you accept that the admission round is the scholarship deadline. Round 1 for the class entering in autumn 2027 closed on 8 September 2026. Round 2 closes at 11:59 pm Eastern on 4 January 2027 with decisions on 19 March 2027, and Round 3 closes on 29 March 2027 with decisions on 14 May 2027. Ross says every round is evaluated equally and that scholarship money is available in all of them, so pick the deadline your application is actually ready for. Consortium applicants work to 15 October and 5 January and skip the separate Ross form. Once you are enrolled, a second layer opens up: the awards Ross Financial Aid advertises by email through the year, many of them need based and gated on a FAFSA with demonstrated need, including the Bitar Scholarship for US citizens and permanent residents originally from the Middle East or Africa, the J. Ira Harris award for first-years, and current-student awards such as the Ross Community Impact Scholarship worth up to $10,000 in the second year. For neighbouring guides, the Forte MBA Fellowship covers the women in business route into several US business schools, the Harvard University MBA Scholarship covers a donor-funded MBA award, and the University of Michigan-Dearborn Scholarship covers a different Michigan campus. Everything above comes from the Ross Financial Aid Full Time MBA Scholarships page and the Michigan Ross admissions and affording pages, checked in September 2026.

Who can apply

Eligibility

Your progress 0 / 7
  • Admission to the Ross Full-Time MBA
The scholarship pool is the admitted class. Ross Financial Aid says all full-time MBA students are considered for scholarships during the admission process and that selected students are notified in their admission letters, so getting in is the whole competition. There is no way to apply for the merit award on its own, and no way to appeal into the pool after a decision.
  • A bachelor's degree equivalent to a four-year US degree
You must hold the equivalent of a US bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by the time you apply. Ross accepts a three-year degree from regions that do not typically award four-year degrees, and asks international applicants for a diploma or similar document showing the date the degree was conferred, with a certified literal English translation where the originals are in another language.
  • A submitted application by a round deadline
For the class entering in autumn 2027 the rounds are 8 September 2026 (now closed), 4 January 2027 and 29 March 2027, all at 11:59 pm Eastern. Ross states that all admitted applicants are reviewed for merit-based scholarships and that scholarships are available regardless of the round, so a later round is not penalised on funding, though it does leave less time for visa processing.
  • A test score or an approved test alternative
Ross asks applicants to demonstrate quantitative readiness through a GMAT or GRE score, or through one of its listed alternatives based on past academic and professional experience. Applications are reviewed holistically and Ross says no single factor, whether GPA, test score or years of work experience, decides the outcome.
  • English proficiency if English is not your first language
TOEFL iBT (Ross reporting code 1839), PTE, IELTS or the Duolingo English Test are all accepted, and scores must be unexpired at enrolment. You are exempt if your undergraduate degree was taught primarily in English, and Ross also allows an alternative essay backed by evidence of immersive study or work in English.
  • A current FAFSA for the need-based awards only
The automatic merit scholarship does not look at financial need. The separate awards that Ross Financial Aid posts through the year often do, and the office says many of them are need based, requiring a FAFSA with demonstrated need on file. FAFSA is open to US citizens and eligible non-citizens, so international students are limited to the merit and donor awards that carry no FAFSA condition.
  • Full-time enrolment and good academic standing to keep it
An admission scholarship is renewable across both years of the Full-Time MBA subject to good academic standing. Ross treats 9 or more credits per semester as full-time enrolment, and the award-specific rules for the application-based scholarships repeat that bar. Drop below it and your aid is recalculated.

What to prepare

Document checklist

Documents gathered 0 / 8
  • The Ross Full-Time MBA application
Submitted through applyweb.com/forms/umross by 11:59 pm Eastern on the round deadline. This is also your scholarship application, since Ross runs merit review on the admitted pool rather than on a separate form.
  • Transcripts from every institution attended
Unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts may be submitted with the application, and official copies are required if you are accepted. Each should show the institution name, graduation GPA, coursework with grades, and the degree with its completion date.
  • A GMAT or GRE score, or an approved alternative
Ross gives applicants multiple routes to demonstrate quantitative readiness, including test scores and evidence drawn from past academic and professional experience. Check the current list on the application requirements page before deciding to sit a test.
  • Proof of English proficiency
TOEFL iBT, PTE, IELTS or Duolingo results sent to University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, unless you are exempt through an English-taught degree or are using the alternative evidence essay.
  • The $250 application fee
Non-refundable, and Ross publishes a list of groups for whom it is waived. Consortium applicants do not complete the Ross application separately, so the fee route differs for them.
  • An interview, by invitation only
Interviews are conducted by a Ross alum or a current MBA student. Candidates hear about the interview timeline a few weeks after their round deadline passes, so an invitation is a step in the funding process rather than a separate stage.
  • A current-year FAFSA for need-based awards
Filed at studentaid.gov and on file with the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. The J. Ira Harris award requires a FAFSA on file at the time the application cycle opens, and Ross encourages all FAFSA-eligible students to file so they are considered for everything.
  • A resume for the donor awards that take applications
The Karim and Arzu Tanman Bitar Scholarship names a resume as a required item on its criteria sheet. These awards are advertised to enrolled students by email, so keep a current resume ready once you are on campus.
Step by step

How to apply

Ross Financial Aid says no separate application is required and that selected students are notified in their admission letters. Everything you would put into a scholarship essay has to live inside the MBA application itself, so build the case for academic ability, professional and personal achievement and community contribution there.
Round 2 closes at 11:59 pm Eastern on 4 January 2027 with decisions on 19 March 2027, and Round 3 closes on 29 March 2027 with decisions on 14 May 2027. Ross evaluates each round equally and says scholarships are available regardless of round, so choose the deadline your application is strongest for.
You need a GMAT or GRE score or one of the listed alternatives, and applications are reviewed holistically with no single factor deciding the result. Booking a test in December for a January deadline is how people end up submitting a weaker application than they could have.
Ross has been a Consortium member since 1983, and all Consortium admits are evaluated for merit funding up to full tuition. Consortium deadlines are 15 October and 5 January, and a Consortium applicant does not complete the Ross application separately.
Ross Financial Aid says many of the scholarships it posts through the year are need based and require a FAFSA with demonstrated need on file, so it encourages every FAFSA-eligible student to file. It costs nothing and it is the only route into that second tier of awards.
The scholarship amount, any fellowship distinction such as Forte, Consortium, Reaching Out MBA or Health Innovation Scholars, and the renewal condition all arrive with admission. Questions about how the Full-Time MBA scholarship was awarded go to [email protected].
The awards that do take applications, including the Bitar and J. Ira Harris scholarships and the current-student awards, are announced by email and posted on the Ross Financial Aid scholarships page with their own due dates. General financial aid questions go to [email protected] with your UMID number.

Questions

FAQ

What are the University of Michigan MBA Scholarships?

They are the merit scholarships attached to admission to the Full-Time MBA at the Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor. Ross Financial Aid states that all full-time MBA students are considered during the admission process, that selected students are notified in their admission letters, and that no separate application is required. Awards run from $10,000 to full tuition and are based on academic ability, professional and personal achievements, and potential to contribute to the Ross community.

How much is a Ross MBA scholarship worth?

Ross publishes a range rather than a single figure: $10,000 at the bottom and full tuition at the top. Two named tiers sit at the top of that range. Dean's Impact Scholars receive a full-tuition scholarship plus an annual stipend for educational travel, leadership development and non-tuition expenses, and Dean's Fellows receive full tuition with access to an alumni senior leader network. For scale, 2026-2027 Full-Time MBA tuition is $78,586 a year for Michigan residents and $83,946 for non-residents, so a full-tuition award is the single largest piece of money on the table.

Do I need a separate application for a Michigan Ross MBA scholarship?

No. Ross says the merit review runs on everyone admitted to the Full-Time MBA and that no separate application is required, so the MBA application is the scholarship application. The exceptions are a small set of donor awards that Ross Financial Aid posts through the year, such as the Karim and Arzu Tanman Bitar Scholarship and the J. Ira Harris Scholarship, which have their own forms, criteria sheets and due dates, and are advertised by email to enrolled students.

Can international students get a University of Michigan MBA scholarship?

Yes. Ross Financial Aid names US citizens, permanent residents and international students in the same sentence as the group considered for admission scholarships. The line international students cannot cross is FAFSA-based aid, since the federal form is limited to US citizens and eligible non-citizens, so the need-based awards Ross posts through the year are mostly out of reach. International applicants should also weigh visa processing time when choosing a round, which is why Ross suggests applying earlier if your visa may take longer.

When is the University of Michigan MBA application deadline for 2027?

For the class entering in autumn 2027, Round 1 closed on 8 September 2026, Round 2 closes on 4 January 2027 and Round 3 closes on 29 March 2027, all at 11:59 pm Eastern. Decisions follow on 11 December 2026, 19 March 2027 and 14 May 2027. Consortium applicants work to 15 October and 5 January instead. Because the scholarship decision travels with the admission decision, these dates are the scholarship deadlines too.

Does applying in Round 1 improve my scholarship chances at Ross?

Ross states plainly that all admitted applicants are reviewed for merit-based scholarships and that scholarships are available regardless of the application round, and that it evaluates each round of applications equally. Its own advice is to submit when your application is strongest. The practical argument for an earlier round is not money but time, particularly for visa processing and for planning around the other schools you are applying to.

Is the Ross MBA scholarship renewable for the second year?

Yes. Ross Financial Aid says all admission-awarded scholarships are renewable for both years of the programme subject to good academic standing. Full-time enrolment at Ross means 9 or more credits per semester, and students who drop below that have their cost of attendance and aid recalculated after the add and drop date.

What is the J. Ira Harris Scholarship at Ross?

It is a tuition-only award for first-year Full-Time MBA students who show financial need through a current FAFSA on file, and who accept what the donor guidelines call a moral commitment to contribute back to the J. Ira Harris Tuition Fund after graduation. Recipients sign an acceptance contract and sign a new one for the second year. Note that Ross describes this award in two different ways. The Ross Financial Aid page lists it among the scholarships that require application, with a Google form and a due date of 13 July 2026 for 2026-2027, while the Michigan Ross admissions site describes a J. Ira Harris Merit Award going to 25 students a year with no separate application, five of them second-years receiving up to $7,500, announced in August or September. Ask [email protected] which route applies to your year before you rely on either version.

Harvard University MBA Scholarship 2027 - 75% of Tuition
The Harvard University MBA Scholarship is funded by the Boustany Foundation and granted once every two years to a single candidate joining Harvard Business School. It pays 75% of tuition fees and covers travel, accommodation and food for a compulsory two-month internship at the Foundation's office in Monaco. You can only apply once Harvard Business School has offered you a place, and the Foundation asks for a CV with a photograph, official GMAT scores and your acceptance letter. The next award goes to the class commencing Autumn 2027, with candidacies closing on 31 May 2027 and the winner named during June 2027.
Partial Funding
University of Michigan-Dearborn Scholarship 2027
The University of Michigan-Dearborn Scholarship is awarded from your admission file, with no separate scholarship form anywhere in the process. Non-resident and international first-year students are placed on a GPA ladder worth $5,000 to $12,500 a year, or $20,000 to $50,000 across four years. Students from eight nearby states and Ontario can instead be assessed at the in-state rate through the Great Lakes Scholarship, worth around $18,000 a year. Non-resident graduate students on in-person programmes receive the Graduate Dearborn Scholarship, which pays $1,250 to $8,000 a semester depending on credit load. Every merit award renews on a cumulative 3.0 GPA and full-time enrolment for up to eight semesters. The next date that matters is 15 November 2026, the Winter 2027 deadline for applicants who need a visa.

Forté MBA Fellowship 2027 - How Schools Pick Fellows
The Forté MBA Fellowship 2027 is an MBA scholarship you cannot apply for directly. You apply to the MBA at one of Forté Foundation's member business schools, more than 40 of them in the US, and if you are admitted the school reviews you for all of its scholarships and picks its own Forté Fellows. Each school sets the dollar amount, which ranges from a partial award to full tuition. Fellows also get Forté conferences, a resume book sent to corporate partners and lifetime access to the Forté network. For the class entering in fall 2027, apply in Round 1 or Round 2, and Round 2 at most US member schools closes around early January 2027.
Partial Funding
University of New Haven Scholarship 2026 - 75% Tuition
The University of New Haven hands out its graduate money through two named awards: a Provost's Assistantship worth 75% tuition assistance plus an hourly wage for 550 hours of research or teaching work a year, and a Dean's Scholarship worth up to 50% tuition assistance on academic merit. Both are open to full-time domestic and international master's students, and neither has a separate form. The admission packet is the application. Undergraduates at the West Haven campus run on a separate automatic merit ladder worth $15,000 to $33,000 a year. The next graduate cutoff is 1 October 2026 for a spring 2027 start.
