Wilson Center Research Fellowship 2027 - $10,000/Month
The Wilson Center Research Fellowship 2027-2028 pays scholars, policy practitioners and journalists $10,000 a month for 12 months to research and write on a foreign policy challenge. You work remotely, with two paid trips to Washington, DC. Applicants of any nationality can apply through Interfolio by 11:59 pm ET on 30 September 2026.
AAUW International Fellowship 2028 - Up to $25,000 in STEM
The AAUW International Fellowship pays women who are not US citizens or permanent residents $20,000 for a first master's degree or $25,000 for a first doctorate, studied full time in a STEM field at an accredited US institution. The 2027-28 application window closes at 5pm ET on 17 September 2026, so this guide is set up for the 2028-29 cycle, which is expected to open in mid-August 2027 and close in mid-September 2027.
World Bank Young Professionals Program 2027 - Eligibility
The World Bank Young Professionals Program 2027 is a two-year, salaried leadership programme at the World Bank Group for people with a graduate degree and two to six years of professional experience. You start in Washington, DC in September 2027, rotate three times for eight months each across the World Bank, IFC and MIGA with at least one country office posting, and can then be placed in a role for five more years. There is no age limit. Applications close on 30 September 2026 at 11:59 PM UTC.
World Bank Treasury Internship 2027 - Paid Summer in DC
The World Bank Treasury Internship 2027 is a paid ten-week summer programme in Washington, DC for college students in the second-to-last year of a four-year degree who graduate between December 2027 and September 2028. Interns rotate through three of Treasury's 17 teams, earn $22.70 an hour net (non-US citizens) or $27.70 an hour gross (US citizens) for 400 hours, and can be offered a two-year Junior Analyst role afterwards. Any nationality can apply, and the World Bank sponsors the visa if you need one. Applications close on 30 September 2026 at 11:59 pm UTC.
Stigler Fellowship 2028 - $14,000 Journalists in Residence
The Stigler Fellowship, officially the Journalists in Residence Program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, gives a small cohort of journalists about 12 weeks in Chicago each spring to audit Booth classes and study political economy, with a $14,000 living stipend plus reimbursed economy airfare and visa fees. Reporters, editors and freelancers from any country can apply if they have a few years of post-degree experience and good English. The Spring 2027 cohort closes on 20 September 2026, so this guide is set up for the Spring 2028 cohort, with a deadline expected in late September or early October 2027.
FSU Humanities Center Fellowship 2027 - $1,000 Stipend
The FSU Humanities Center Undergraduate Fellowship gives up to 15 Florida State juniors and seniors a $1,000 research stipend, faculty-led workshops and a slot at the Undergraduate Humanities Symposium. The 2026-2027 round closed on 3 September 2026, and the 2027-2028 call is expected around early September 2027.
Guggenheim Fellowship 2028 - Mid-Career US & Canada Award
The Guggenheim Fellowship funds six to twelve months of focused work for mid-career artists, writers, scholars and scientists who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada. The 2027 competition closes on 15 September 2026, so this guide is set up for the 2028 competition, which is expected to open in mid-August 2027 and close in mid-September 2027.
WACA Student Scholars Program 2026 - Free DC Conference
The WACA Student Scholars Program 2026 sends 25 undergraduates to the World Affairs Councils of America National Conference in Washington, DC, from 17 to 20 November 2026, at no cost to the student. WACA pays for conference registration, room and board, and gives each nominating Council $1,250 toward the scholar's travel and lodging. You cannot apply cold: one of WACA's 90 member Councils has to pick you as its single nominee first. You must be an undergraduate aged 18 or older at a local college or university, and students at schools in the Greater Washington DC area are excluded. Nominations and student applications close on Friday 25 September 2026 at 11:59 PM EDT.
YES Scholarship 2028 - Kennedy-Lugar High School Exchange
The YES Scholarship, formally the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, is a US Department of State exchange that brings high school students from nine partner countries to live with an American host family and attend a US high school for a semester. Airfare, the host family placement, a monthly stipend, health insurance and program activities are all paid for. The spring 2027 round closes between 15 and 23 September 2026 depending on the country, so this guide is set up for the next intake, which is expected to recruit around August and September 2027 for a program starting in early 2028.
AAUW Research Publication Grant 2027 - $8,000 Award
The AAUW Research Publication Grant 2027, formally the American Short-Term Research Publication Grant, pays women scholars $8,000 in a single tranche to get a research manuscript ready for publication. The money covers drafting, editing, replicating research and answering reviewers, and can also go on housing, food and dependent care while you write. All fields qualify, with STEM researchers and those working on gender issues especially encouraged. You need a doctoral or terminal degree already in hand, US citizenship or permanent residency, and sole or first authorship on the manuscript. Applications open 17 August 2026 and close 30 September 2026 at 5pm ET, with awards announced in April 2027.
Harvard Radcliffe Fellowship 2027 - $78,000 Stipend
The Harvard Radcliffe Fellowship 2027 gives scholars, scientists, writers and artists nine months in Cambridge to finish an ambitious project, on a stipend of $78,000 plus $5,000 for project expenses. Fellows take up a full-time Harvard appointment as visiting fellows, get an office or studio in Byerly Hall, full Harvard Library access, and funded Harvard undergraduate research partners. Applications for the 2027-2028 year close 10 September 2026 at 5pm ET for the humanities, social sciences, creative arts, nonfiction and journalism, and 1 October 2026 for science, engineering and mathematics. Results go out by the end of March 2027, and the residency runs 1 September 2027 to 31 May 2028.
NPGH Global Health Fellowship 2027 - $67,824 Stipend
The NPGH Global Health Fellowship 2027 is a 12-month, NIH-funded research training year abroad, run by the Northern Pacific Global Health LEADERs consortium as part of the Fogarty International Center LAUNCH programme. Postdoctoral Fellows get a living stipend of $67,824 and $10,000 in research funds; predoctoral Scholars get $28,224 and $7,500. Health insurance, travel to and from the research site and an NIH orientation in Bethesda are all covered. You spend the year full-time at an approved site in Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon, Peru, Thailand, Nepal or India with a mentor team on both ends. Applications for the 2027-2028 year close 15 September 2026 at 5pm Pacific, and fellowships begin 1 July 2027.
