MDI Bio Lab Summer Fellowship 2027 - $7K + Housing
MDI Biological Laboratory Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships place college students in 10-week, mentored lab projects on regeneration and aging in Bar Harbor, Maine. NSF REU fellows receive about $7,000, on-campus housing, a full meal plan, and some travel help. INBRE fellows follow the same summer structure for students enrolled at Maine colleges. You need one semester of college biology with lab, one semester of math, and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency for REU. Applications for summer 2027 are expected to open in mid-November 2026 and close around 25 January 2027 on the NSF ETAP portal.
GEM PhD Engineering Fellowship 2027 - $16,000+
The National GEM Consortium PhD Engineering Fellowship is the doctoral Employer Fellow track for students pursuing an engineering doctorate at a GEM member university with a corporate sponsor. US citizens and permanent residents need a 3.0 cumulative GPA, applications to three GEM member STEM departments, and a contractual paid summer internship. PhD Employer Fellows receive at least $16,000 per year, full tuition and fees through the fifth year, a university stipend top-up, and at least one 10-to-12-week internship with the sponsoring GEM employer. The 2026 eGEM cycle opened 1 July 2026 and closes 13 November 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship 2027 - $35K
The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program gives graduating US high school seniors up to $35,000 over four years of college plus mentoring, internship placement, and the annual Mentoring and Leadership Conference in New York City. The 2026-2027 application opens September 1, 2026 and closes January 14, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Applicants need US citizenship, demonstrated financial need, strong academics, leadership, community service, SAT or ACT scores, a CSS Profile, and plans to attend an approved four-year college.
Killam Fellowship 2027 - $6,000 US-Canada
The Killam Fellowships Program, administered by Fulbright Canada, sends exceptional U.S. undergraduates to study for one semester or a full year at partner universities in Canada. U.S. citizens enrolled full time at a degree-granting American college may apply through a direct exchange at a partner school or through the open competition for any listed Canadian host. Awards include $6,000 US per semester or $12,000 for a full year, a health benefit plan, orientation in Ottawa and a spring seminar in Washington, D.C., plus mobility grants up to $800 US. The open competition typically opens August 15 and closes January 31 for placement the following academic year.
Documentary Photography Award 2027 - $1,000
The International Documentary Photography Award from Steve Anchell and Anchell Photography pays $1,000 to one undergraduate or graduate student who submits a blind-judged portfolio of 12 to 20 socially conscious documentary photographs plus a 350-word project essay. Matriculated students anywhere may apply regardless of major. The annual cycle historically closes January 1 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Winners are notified by March and paid by April. Apply through the official online form or partner portals such as Fastweb.
Katharine M Grosscup Horticulture 2027 - $3,500
The Katharine M. Grosscup Scholarships in Horticulture, administered by the Garden Club of America with a Cleveland-area committee, encourage sophomores through master's students at colleges in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia to study horticulture or related fields. U.S. citizens and permanent residents with about a 3.5 GPA may receive up to $3,500 paid directly for education and research, with a possible second-year award up to $1,000. Applications arrive electronically or by mail at GCA Headquarters by January 15, with interviews in early February. GCA allows only one GCA scholarship or fellowship application per year.
Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship 2027 - $2,000 DAR
The Mary Elizabeth Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a one-time national award of up to $2,000 for a US citizen enrolled full time in an accredited MBA or business administration graduate program with at least a 3.25 GPA. The DAR Scholarship Committee accepts online applications through AcademicWorks from November 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time. The scholarship is not automatically renewable, though recipients may reapply for up to four consecutive years. DAR chapter sponsorship is not required.
Justice in Rural Communities Scholarship 2027
Teague Law in Ellijay, Georgia offers the Justice in Rural Communities Scholarship, a $2,500 award for US students enrolled at accredited trade schools, colleges, universities, graduate programs, or law schools who write an original 1,000-word essay on access to justice in rural areas. You must be at least 18, in good academic standing, and a US resident. Submit a PDF essay with citations and a header for financial aid before completing the form on jttlaw.com. The deadline is January 30, 2027. AI-generated essays disqualify applicants.
Isabel M Herson Education Scholarship 2027 - ZNEF
The Isabel M. Herson Scholarship in Education from the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority National Educational Foundation (ZNEF) awards about $500 to $1,000 to one full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in elementary or secondary education for a single academic year. You apply through the ZNEF AwardSpring portal with proof of enrollment, transcripts, three recommendation letters, and a short essay. The fund typically closes February 1 each year. Payment goes to your college or university. Membership in Zeta Phi Beta is not required for this national foundation award.
Katherine F Lindquist Memorial SWE 2027 - $1,250
The Katherine F. Lindquist Memorial Scholarship from the SWE Smoky Mountain Section honors a TVA civil engineer and Girl Scout leader who mentored East Tennessee girls toward STEM careers. SWE endowed the fund in 2014 and typically awards about $1,250 to one female high school senior who lives in East Tennessee, holds at least a 2.5 GPA, and plans to enroll full time at a four-year college in math, science, or engineering. Preference often goes to applicants near Knoxville, Oak Ridge, and Johnson City. Louisville First Book Grant 2027 - Up to $55,000
The Louisville Institute First Book Grant supports pre-tenured faculty at accredited US or Canadian colleges, universities, and theological schools who are finishing a first scholarly book on minoritized Christian communities in North America. The 2027 cycle pays up to $55,000 for a 2027-28 research leave, selects three grantees, and requires attendance at Winter Seminar in January 2028.
Injury Recovery Scholarship 2027 - $1,000
The 2026 Injury Recovery Scholarship from LNN Law Accident & Employment Lawyers awards $1,000 to one U.S. student who writes about psychological injury impacts and holistic recovery. High school seniors, vocational students, college students, and graduate students with at least a 3.0 GPA may apply if they are legal U.S. residents in any state or Washington, DC, and enrolled in a vocational programme or two- to four-year post-secondary school. You submit a 750-to-1,000-word essay, resume, transcripts or acceptance proof, and the online form by 31 January 2027. Essays are screened for AI-generated text. Preference goes to California students, but applicants nationwide are welcome.
