Mensa US Scholarship 2027 - Essay-Based Awards
The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program awards more than $200,000 yearly through essay-only competitions tied to participating American Mensa Local Groups. You do not need Mensa membership or a qualifying IQ score for the general awards. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who live in a participating Local Group area and will enroll at an accredited U.S. college for 2027-28 may apply with a 550-word goal essay. Individual awards often range from about $500 to $7,000 after local, regional, and national judging. The 2027-28 cycle opens 15 September 2026 and closes 15 November 2026 on the Award Spring portal.
Murse World Scholarship 2027 - $1,000 Pay It Forward
The Murse World Pay It Forward Scholarship awards $1,000 toward tuition for one student pursuing a medical or health-related degree at an accredited US college or university. Murse World, a Lakewood, New Jersey retailer specializing in men's medical scrubs and clinical apparel, asks for an original essay up to 500 words answering how you plan to make the world a better place through your future career. You need a 3.0 cumulative GPA and US citizenship or lawful permanent resident status. Judges select five to ten finalists for public voting on the Murse World website before naming a winner. James Beard Foundation Scholarships 2027
The James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program funds culinary and hospitality students through cash grants, tuition waivers, and Jean-Louis Palladin work-study grants for working chefs. Since 1991 JBF has awarded nearly $10 million to more than 2,000 recipients studying at accredited culinary schools, colleges, and universities nationwide. Applications historically open in early February and close in late March or early April, with dozens of named funds ranging from a few hundred dollars to $20,000 National Scholar awards. International students may qualify for many funds.
Print IT Scholarship 2027 - $1,000 Video
G.W. Networks Inc., publisher of MMANUTS, awards one $1,000 Print IT Scholarship each year to a U.S. citizen enrolled at an accredited college or university during the 2026 or 2027 academic year. Any major may apply if you create or plan to create unique video or audio content. Submit a five- to ten-minute video explaining how your storytelling will engage audiences, then email [email protected] with Scholarship Inquiry in the subject line and your school name. Past Presidents SWE Scholarship 2027 - $6,500
The SWE Past Presidents Scholarship honors the Society of Women Engineers leaders since Beatrice Hicks became the first president in 1950. The endowed fund, established in 1998, typically pays about $6,500 to one undergraduate or graduate woman who is a U.S. citizen, holds at least a 3.0 GPA, and studies full time in an ABET-accredited engineering, engineering technology, or computer science program as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student. SWE membership is not required, though members may earn extra review points. Reviewers weigh community service, extracurricular STEM activity, and work history. Northrop Grumman SWE Scholarship 2027 - $5,000
The Northrop Grumman SWE Scholarship from the Society of Women Engineers awards five $5,000 grants each cycle to women who are U.S. citizens, active SWE members, and full-time students at partner universities or at an HBCU or HSI. Eligible class levels include sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students in ABET-accredited aerospace, computer, cybersecurity, electrical, mechanical, systems, software, and related engineering majors. SWE gives preference to candidates from underrepresented groups. MDI Bio Lab Summer Fellowship 2027 - $7K + Housing
MDI Biological Laboratory Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships place college students in 10-week, mentored lab projects on regeneration and aging in Bar Harbor, Maine. NSF REU fellows receive about $7,000, on-campus housing, a full meal plan, and some travel help. INBRE fellows follow the same summer structure for students enrolled at Maine colleges. You need one semester of college biology with lab, one semester of math, and U.S. citizenship or permanent residency for REU. Applications for summer 2027 are expected to open in mid-November 2026 and close around 25 January 2027 on the NSF ETAP portal.
GEM PhD Engineering Fellowship 2027 - $16,000+
The National GEM Consortium PhD Engineering Fellowship is the doctoral Employer Fellow track for students pursuing an engineering doctorate at a GEM member university with a corporate sponsor. US citizens and permanent residents need a 3.0 cumulative GPA, applications to three GEM member STEM departments, and a contractual paid summer internship. PhD Employer Fellows receive at least $16,000 per year, full tuition and fees through the fifth year, a university stipend top-up, and at least one 10-to-12-week internship with the sponsoring GEM employer. The 2026 eGEM cycle opened 1 July 2026 and closes 13 November 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship 2027 - $35K
The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Program gives graduating US high school seniors up to $35,000 over four years of college plus mentoring, internship placement, and the annual Mentoring and Leadership Conference in New York City. The 2026-2027 application opens September 1, 2026 and closes January 14, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Applicants need US citizenship, demonstrated financial need, strong academics, leadership, community service, SAT or ACT scores, a CSS Profile, and plans to attend an approved four-year college.
Killam Fellowship 2027 - $6,000 US-Canada
The Killam Fellowships Program, administered by Fulbright Canada, sends exceptional U.S. undergraduates to study for one semester or a full year at partner universities in Canada. U.S. citizens enrolled full time at a degree-granting American college may apply through a direct exchange at a partner school or through the open competition for any listed Canadian host. Awards include $6,000 US per semester or $12,000 for a full year, a health benefit plan, orientation in Ottawa and a spring seminar in Washington, D.C., plus mobility grants up to $800 US. The open competition typically opens August 15 and closes January 31 for placement the following academic year.
Documentary Photography Award 2027 - $1,000
The International Documentary Photography Award from Steve Anchell and Anchell Photography pays $1,000 to one undergraduate or graduate student who submits a blind-judged portfolio of 12 to 20 socially conscious documentary photographs plus a 350-word project essay. Matriculated students anywhere may apply regardless of major. The annual cycle historically closes January 1 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Winners are notified by March and paid by April.
