Not every scholarship covers 100% of your costs, but partial funding can still make a huge difference. The scholarships listed here cover a significant share of tuition or living expenses, reducing what you need to pay out of pocket.
Magnolia DX Association Scholarship 2027 - $500 MS
The Magnolia DX Association Scholarship is a one-time $500 ARRL Foundation award for active amateur radio operators who hold at least a Technician-class FCC license and study electronics, communications, computer science, engineering, or a related field. ARRL gives preference to Mississippi residents, then to applicants elsewhere in the Delta Division, and to students who will attend an accredited college, university, or technical school in Mississippi or the Delta Division. Graduating high school seniors usually rank ahead of continuing undergraduates. You apply through the unified Kaleidoscope portal when the winter cycle opens. For 2027-2028 study, expect a late-October 2026 opening and a deadline around February 1, 2027, with late-spring notification and July payment to your school.
Sally Beauty HS Scholarship 2027 - $1,000
The Sally Beauty Scholarships for High School Graduates help new cosmetology students through the Professional Beauty Association. Sally Beauty Supply funds the awards and PBA administers them alongside other beauty-industry scholarships at probeauty.org. High school graduates under age 26 who plan to enter an accredited cosmetology program may apply with a completed form, two recommendation letters, a personal essay, and a transcript. CareerOneStop lists ten $1,000 awards with a January 15 deadline. Check probeauty.org/scholarships each fall for the live application because PBA rotates sponsored programs on that page.
Technology Addiction Awareness Scholarship 2027
Digital Responsibility awards $1,000 through the Technology Addiction Awareness Scholarship to U.S. citizens or legal residents in high school, college, graduate school, or homeschool programs. There is no age limit. You submit a 140-character statement completing the prompt "Instead of spending time with technology, I'd rather…" through the sponsor's online form. Finalists may be asked for a 500- to 1,000-word essay on technology addiction. The scholarship highlights screen-time risks and is one of four Digital Responsibility awards on the same site. The listed deadline for the current cycle is January 30, 2027.
Regina B. Shearn Scholarship 2027 - $2,000 APS
The Regina B. Shearn Scholarship from Alpha Phi Sigma honors the Criminal Justice Honor Society''s first executive director. Official members apply through SmarterSelect for separate undergraduate and graduate awards worth $2,000 each. You need chapter-advisor-signed transcripts, a resume showing campus and community leadership, a 5- to 7-page corrections career paper, and three recommendation letters. Judges weigh academics, service, and your plan for roles such as probation, parole, or correctional programming. You cannot win the same Shearn award two years in a row. Applications close February 14, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
SNC Women in STEM Scholarship 2027 - $7,500
Sierra Nevada Corporation's Women in STEM Scholarship, administered by Scholarship America, awards five $7,500 grants to U.S. citizens who identify as female and pursue non-medical STEM degrees at accredited two- or four-year colleges. High school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students need a 3.5 GPA, part-time or full-time enrollment for the full award year, demonstrated financial need, and a STEM career plan. Each winner is matched with an SNC mentor. The Ozmen Foundation at the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada funds the program. Applications historically open in early December and close around mid-January, with late-March notifications and August payments.
Progress of Ideas Scholarship 2027 - $5,000
The Progress and Poverty Institute, successor to the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation, awards up to five $5,000 Progress of Ideas Scholarships each year through Scholarship America. The fund backs undergraduates with at least 36 credit hours or graduate students entering their first master's or Ph.D. who study economics, public policy, urban studies, and related social-science fields tied to economic equity. You need a 2.5 GPA, full-time enrollment at an accredited U.S. college, demonstrated financial need, two 1,000-character essays, faculty-backed recommendations, and a commitment to social justice. Awards can renew once while you maintain a 2.0 GPA. Applications typically open in late November and close around January 29 for the following academic year.
Richard M. Weaver Fellowship 2027 - Up to $15,000
The Intercollegiate Studies Institute Richard M. Weaver Graduate Fellowship awards up to fifteen US citizens in humanities or social-science graduate programs between $5,000 and $15,000 for the 2027-28 academic year when they commit to college teaching. ISI excludes paraprofessional tracks such as law, medicine, divinity, and business. The 2026-27 cycle closed 14 March 2026; expect the next portal to open in fall 2026 with a mid-March 2027 deadline following the annual pattern.
Ramos Family Law Scholarship 2027 - $1,000 Video
Ramos Law Group, PLLC awards a $1,000 Ramos Law Group Family Law Scholarship each cycle to students enrolled or planning to enroll at a U.S. college, trade school, or university. You do not have to be a child of divorced parents, though the firm created the award to highlight how divorce shapes kids. Submit a 60- to 120-second video on 5 Tips for Talking to Your Kids About Divorce, upload it through Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive, and complete the online form with a photo ID and school details. Applications open May 1 and close January 31, with winners announced around February 15. The winning entry may appear on the Ramos Law Group blog and Facebook.
Albert H. Hix Memorial Scholarship 2027 - $500 WV
The Albert H. Hix, W8AH, Memorial Scholarship is a one-time $500 award from the ARRL Foundation for active amateur radio operators who live in the ARRL West Virginia section and attend an accredited postsecondary school in that same section. You need at least a General-class FCC license, a 3.0 GPA, and enrollment at a two-year or four-year college. ARRL runs every named fund through one Kaleidoscope application each winter; the Hix scholarship typically draws one winner per year. For the 2027 academic year, expect the portal to open in late October 2026 and close around February 1, 2027, with recipients notified in late spring and checks mailed to schools in July.
MIT THINK Scholars 2027 - $1K STEM Projects
The MIT THINK Scholars Program, run by MIT undergraduates through TechX, funds high school students who propose original STEM research they have not yet been able to run. Up to six finalists receive up to $1,000 in project funding, weekly mentorship from MIT students, and usually an all-expenses-paid campus visit. You must be a full-time high school student in grades 9-12 with permanent U.S. residency during the school year; citizenship is not required. For the 2026-27 cycle, applications opened 1 November 2025 and closed 1 January 2026; expect a similar November-to-January window for the next round leading into spring 2027 project work.
Outlaw Student Nursing Scholarship 2027 - $500
Outlaw Student Nursing School Scholarships, operated by StraightForward Media in Surprise, Arizona, award $500 four times per year to nursing students enrolled in or accepted to accredited US nursing programs. Each quarter is a separate merit competition requiring a transcript, resume or activity list, and essay. Historical windows closed in January, April, July, and October. Confirm the live application with [email protected] because outlawstudent.com nursing pages no longer host the form and CareerOneStop still lists straightforwardinteractive.com as the legacy sponsor URL.
Mensa US Scholarship 2027 - Essay-Based Awards
The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program awards more than $200,000 yearly through essay-only competitions tied to participating American Mensa Local Groups. You do not need Mensa membership or a qualifying IQ score for the general awards. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who live in a participating Local Group area and will enroll at an accredited U.S. college for 2027-28 may apply with a 550-word goal essay. Individual awards often range from about $500 to $7,000 after local, regional, and national judging. The 2027-28 cycle opens 15 September 2026 and closes 15 November 2026 on the Award Spring portal.
